A brilliant suggestion by someone on the DML some time ago - Do not ever drain you transmission until you are sure you can get the fill plug open first... ________________________________ From: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Johnny Sawyer Sent: Thursday, August 02, 2007 3:20 PM To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [DML] How tight is too tight? That's one area of the car that doesn't require a lot of tourqe. If you get them too tight, you will split the cork gasket and it will leak no matter how much tightening you do. This is what I was told to do (and did): Finger tighen all of the bolts and give them 1/2 to 3/4 turn with a wrench. No leaks. If you split your gasket, you will have to drain your transmission and start over again if you want to stop the leaking in that area.
