To get the A/C to blow cold there are some things an owner can do and some things you will have to go to a shop for. The owner can make sure the evap and cond coils are clean (no leaves, dirt, mouse droppings, etc) the A/C belt is tight, the heater fan is turning in the correct direction, the A/C belt is tight, and the idler bearings are good. The cooling system should also be in good condition, both fans work, no coolant leaks. A shop can check that you have the correct charge of refrigerent and the compressor is OK. Stick a thermometer into the vent while the A/C is running. You should get a temperature 20 degrees lower than the ambient, outside temperature. Go over all of the external shifter adjustments for the transmission and make sure you have the the correct amount of the right lubricant in the transmission.
