Oops, my bad. I should have known that seeing as how I have actually replaced my main seal with the engine IN THE CAR!! I was thinking about the oil pan gasket (which some say could theoretically be done with just lifting the engine but no way would I try it that way after doing it with the engine out) Thanks for the clarification. It's only a big deal if you pay a shop to pull the transmission; then you quickly get into the many hundreds of dollars range for labor.
