[DML] Re: Spacing (Bezel)

To add some details to Dave's semi-hand-built comments...

After hearing numerous great stories about DMC and the QAC's
from two former DMC employees at last weeks DMC Midwest Open
House, I can report that nearly all the 1981 model DeLoreans
that went through the Midwest QAC in Troy, Michigan had the
license plate bezel installed at the QAC and by one man:
Bezel Bob (as he was called).

Bezel Bob went from car to car in the QAC lot with a template
for the bezel, a set of tools for the job and a box of bezels
and worked from sunrise to sunset almost every day installing
bezels on every car from VIN..7xx to VIN..71xx at the QAC.

One of these two former QAC employees has a log book of every
DeLorean that passed through the Michigan QAC from mid-1981
through March of 1982. My quick review of this log book only
listed 1981 models, with no 1982 or 1983 designated VIN's.

There is a good chance that 1982 and 1983 model DeLoreans did
have their license bezels installed at the factory, but if you
have a 1981 model and it passed through the doors of the QAC
in Michigan, you can thank or blame Bezel Bob for the install.

More early DeLorean stories to share at the Early DeLoreans
Seminar at the DMCH Open House next month. See you there.

Later,
Rich W.
