[DML] Re: NCT 15" Tires - Need 2

I had a set on my car until recently. My wife finally said she would
not go anywhere in the car until I replaced them, she knew they were
20 years old and had also heard about the dangers of riding on old
tires even if they look good and have plenty of tread life left. I
reluctantly replaced them and have been amazed at the difference in
the ride quality. It was like riding on ROCKS with the old tires! The
ride is SO much softer and now I have complete confidence in them. I
would only put them on for a concours and then only if the car is
trailered. Any tire over 7 years is now considered "dead" just like a
battery over 5 years old is considered 1/2 gone and should be replaced.

rear tires. They don't need more than just legal tread as I put on
only 300 mi / year, but the can not have ctacks in the sidewall.

rubber chemical applications. We made antioxidants and antiozonants
and other chemicals that go into rubber for tires, and evaluated that
rubber after aging. I'm in a position to judge the aged rubber on a
tire, so please don't be concerned about the condition other than as
I've mentioned above: some tread, no sidewall cracking. I can do some
preservation for the future when I get them.
