That is the perfect esoteric attitude the DOA has strived for in the past. Which
is the same attitude that has put the DOA in the position it is currently in.

A quote from Mr. Ed.
" 'They're a wealthy crowd, with fine homes and offices. They need to be looked
after, ... We're reshaping our strategy to target "achievers" rather than only
sports-car lovers. We want to get closer to our customers and be responsible for
our own destiny.' Change only the word "customers" to "members" and one has the
total conceptual nature of our Association. How simple, yet totally awesome! "
- Ed Bernstein (DOA Mag 2-2, Summer 1984)

And another [but not from Ed] in the DOA mag...
"As members of the DeLorean Owners Association, we are an intelligent, highly
sophisticated, select group of individuals."

I could care less how much money one has, social status, I.Q., or how much there
car "is worth". I am in this community for the comradery and love for the car.
Anybody, with or without money, can ignore their car, property, family and let
it/them rot.

And just because one is cheep (like me) doesn't mean they skimp on their car. I
don't neglect my car but I also don't spend hours & hours detailing it. I would
gladly put my 105,000 mile D up against anyone's in a functioning cross country
driving (not trailering) test any day.

I would tend to think there is more value at a "Motel 6 show" because it would be
more focused around the love of the car than the showmanship/bling of a "higher
standard of owner" event. But then again what do I know... I am merely but a
faded asphalt peasant.
