I hade the unexpected Pleasure of replacing the wiper motor on vin 16908 last night and it now works fine. BUT For those of you that have replaced fuel accumulators especially without a lift the window motor replacement makes that look like childs play. I read the manual and it warns you to NOT remove the swivel arm off the wiper motor. I would like to know if the author of that procedure ever did the repair. I could find no orientation that would allow its removal without removing it. Well after coming to that conclusion you are working totally blind. One thing that helps a lot is to remove the speedometer cable. (this is not listed in the procedure but helps a great amount for room and rotation of the motor.) There are only three 6mm bolts and one 8 mm nut to remove. YEA right. The rotating arm is not logically oriented with a flat so you can get it on right. NO it has a spline. That however did not cause much of a problem as I oriented it parallel to the wiper support and got it on and working on the first try. It was following the instructions in the manual that caused the problem. Breaking free the arm from the motor was a bit difficult as well not much room for leverage. The arms on the pivot ball came off surprisingly easily but I needed a LONG set of curved needle nose pliers to snap that into place. The top bar snapped on just fine. Anyway bad shoulder and all I got it in about three hours. If I had to do it again I think I could do it in under two now that I know the sequence. This is truly one of the worst jobs I have ever done and do not wish this on anyone. I have heard rumors of people selling their car to avoid this repair. I would not blame them LOL but it is doable. I never thought that I would have to replace one of these things but here it is. Hope this little insight helps someone in the future.
