Hi All, I will be eternally grateful if someone can help me out of this jam! I just had a rebuilt steering rack installed. When my mechanic removed the old rack, he removed an oval/egg-shaped plate that fits around the steering rack's pinion shaft. This is either called a "pre-load" plate or a "pinion plate"...I'm not sure which. It serves to protect the inner areas of the pinion shaft. Well, my mechanic discarded this and I need it in order to get a $250 core charge refunded on the old rack. I'm being told by my vendor that without it, the old rack is "junk". I will of course buy this from you if you have a spare. If not, I'm going to have to take the plate off of my new rack & return it to the vendor and also have a replacement plate machined for me somewhere. I REALLY don't want to mess with my newly installed rack nor deal with the hassel of getting one machined. But I also don't want to lose $250 on account of a crummy scrap of metal. Please make my day and tell me you have one you can part with!!
