The current owner is an old family friend of ours and makes a living repairing and restoring exotics and specialty imports. I really don't have any reason not to trust him. I'm because: 1) The owner wants to sell it to me specifically because I'm the only real DMC fanatic he's had make contact with him (all the other would-be buyers expressed such intellectual gems as 'LOL IT HAS COOL DOORS LOOK' and 'ITS THE BACK TO THE FUTURE CAR CAN I BUY IT'). 2) The car is in really good shape - all the updates performed on it, including new TABs and new struts and all the other things you're supposed to check, and a nice modern sound system to boot. 3) He's giving me a killer deal on it. The extra power is just a bonus. But I still believe his horsepower claims if only because he didn't give me any numbers or details until AFTER I'd agreed to buy the car - not because he was withholding them, I just didn't think to ask him. At the time I was under the impression that the air filter was the only semi-permanent change made to the car and the nitrous oxide was disengaged and wasn't even included. I may be wrong about the cams, but he didn't mention them at all when we sat down and I wrote out all the modifications he's done to it. It's possible it just didn't cross his mind at the time. When I finally finish paying off the car (expect at least a year's wait...), I'm going to run it on a dyno myself if he hasn't found the sheet by then. I don't know how much difference it makes, but remember that the engine is now a 3.0L engine due to the new pistons - in his words, displacement is the cheapest horsepower available. If I'm not making any sense at all, let me know. I'm running on very little sleep today. --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Marc Levy <malevy_nj@...> wrote: > To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
