Hi Jared. I think I might be the guy who emailed you yesterday. Hopefully you don't mind my unsolicited advice; it was well intended, as is this new batch. I've really enjoyed my Delorean, but when I go to Florida next month, I'm takin' the Hyundai. :o) When you do get your Delorean, and you don't have to rely on it for daily transportation, you'll be glad. They're pretty reliable, but not as reliable as a modern car. Also, when you insure it, the insurer will ask "Do you use this car to commute to work every day?", or "Is this your only car?" A "Yes" answer to those questions will drive up your rate. If you keep your credit and driving record really good, a good company to insure your future Delorean is Hagerty. They are very reasonably priced, because they are by choice very selective about who they'll insure. No matter where you get it insured, it is very important for you to keep a clean driving record in all your cars, if you want to have a Delorean in your future and have a reasonable insurance bill. If you like fixing things, you'll be in luck. There are always clunker Deloreans kicking around that are not terribly inexpensive. Many engine/mechanical parts are generic, and are surprisingly cheap. Many Delorean specific parts, like body panels, and interior parts are surprisingly expensive. I'm a pilot too (student). While you're saving up your money/ building up your credit, maybe a good match will come along, and you'll know it's time to buy. And don't be discouraged by us old Delorean-owning fogies firehosing your enthusiasm. Some of us seem to have forgotten just how cool it is to own one of these cars, and get all doom and gloom about the upkeep. They are a pain, but they're a fun pain.
