It's more complicated than that. When individuals donate to charities
or museums they usually do it as much for tax purposes as generosity.
To make donations and have them recognizable as bona-fide deductions
the entity has to have 501 c status with the IRS. That usually means a
non-profit organization like a charity or a museum. The donor has to
have an appraisel of the item and get a letter from the entity upon
donating. This is no place to get this kind of info except in the most
general terms. A museum is a very good idea so as to collect, display,
and preserve the history of the Delorean. Setting up such a thing is
way beyond the scope of this forum.
