Wow, another mysterie !!!!!

If you look at the schematic you will see, that it is impossible to  
destroy the caps by jumpstarting the car !

Again: IMPOSSIBLE !

oh well, maybe it is when you play Doc Brown and use a lightning....

next to the caps - only few of them are bad - the most common 
problem is the solder joints. And it is not easy to find that
problem without some equipment. But it can be done, and it can be 
done for cheap.
