I'm assuming those few sellers have not owned an automatic? Mine works just fine. Been to Californina three times and Nevada once without any transmission problems. I live in AZ and it gets darn hot here but the transmission works fine. Regular preventative maintenance = a good transmission. That goes for the manual as well. With the exception of the computer governor failures that effects some folks (haven't had one myself) I don't know of anyone that has had "lots of transmission trouble".
