Cars from VIN 1000 or so on, IIRC, have VIN plates the same color as the dash. The significance comes on the 15XXX and 16XXX VIN's that have dash VIN plates with no pop-rivets, they are just glued on. This is because all the 15XXX and 16XXX VIN's are really 10XXX and 11XXX VIN's (1982 models) that were given new, later 1983 model VIN numbers so they would not appear to be a year old already by the time that got here to the states to sell. The 20XXX VIN's were the cars that were partially completed when the factory closed and Consolidate went in and finished them. Their VIN plates are pop-riveted on. What was the story about these?
