I bought a flooded delorean back in 92 and made it into a the time machine. The car was under water for 4 months in new orleans. AFter cleaning and draining the oil and water, The motor actually ran, but one cylinder smoked. The trans was a little rusted, but worked.. The interior was shot, but I managed to save a few things. Since the body is fiberglass, interior restoration was a lot easier than a steel car. Just clean up and add replacement components. The reality is if he wanted to save the D he could. It is just a mater of time and money.
