What you found is a very good primer on ignition systems. Unfortuntely it only touches lightly on electronic systems of the type which we have in the Delorean. The dwell as it pertains to ignition systems means nothing to us. The dwell meter IS used on the fuel system but for a completely different purpose, it is measuring pulses, not coil saturation. For more information Bosch has a lot of good books on how the igntion system works, and the fuel system. Luckly for us, the ignition system on a Delorean seems to be pretty bulletproof. Outside of the parts aging or wearing out, the pick-up coil in the distributer or bad connections seems to be the only weak point. It has now become common for "mechanics" to have never seen or adjusted a set of points. There is a whole lot more to this ingenious system. It also is converting DC electric into AC and then back into DC, very clever in 1900 or so when it was invented. One of the very few places you will ever see a transformer in a DC system!
