Paul.. What did you find? I found a simple fix for the intake below the windshield. Carefully remove the grill below the windshield and cement some fiberglass screening ( Hardware stores carry the screening for replacing window screens) to the back of the grill section that fits over the opening. It is a cheap, simple fix that will prevent all sorts of stuff from going into the opening. I used a fine black screening and it is almost impossible to see.
