Since you seem to have been able to rule out the throttle linkage it is one of the following possiblities: A bad connection (intermittant) between a sensor and the idle ECU A bad sensor A bad idle ECU A sticking idle motor I would start by checking all the plugs and wiring in the idle circuit, a loose or faulty connection could be causing this.
