The owner's manual (the one which goes in the valet in the glove box) is different for the 81 vs the 82's and 83's. They appear on E-bay from time to time and you might be able to get one from one of the vendors. In the meantime I am sure you can get a locl owner to photocopy his for you. The 81 and 82 manuals are essentially the same as far as content is concerned so for informational purposes either would be OK. The Workshop Manual and the Parts Manual are available from all the vendors and the Parts Manual is downloadable from dmcnews.com. What you really should get is the book with all the recalls if you are interested in seeing what was done as far as the front suspension is concerned. All the major vendors have that too.
