Sorry, I read the original post to be asking just about the auto box. Okay, the 369 manual transmission as found in the DeLorean was used in the Renault 30 originally. Not many cars got the 369. The UN1 which is almost identical apart from the shift mechanism found its way into: DeLorean Alpine GTA and derivatives Venturi Atlantique and 400GT series' Lotus Esprit And a list of Renaults as long as your arm. The R30 has a 3.8:1 final drive, the DeLorean a 3.4:1. The 3.4:1 is common to the Renault alpines and I've recently confirmed that the DeLorean has exactly the same ratios as the normally aspirated Alpine GTA. The GTA turbo and A610 have a taller 4th and 5th and bizarrely, reverse! The GTA has smaller back tyres though... and a 160hp carb'd odd-fire 2.8 wth a top speed approaching 160mph. The Esprit uses the same ratios as the GTA Turbo and A610 but with a 3.8:1 final drive. This probably explains their propensity for problems with 5th. Did I miss any?
