A lot of people were hoping it would go away. Usually when I show my car, it's met with a mix of everything from feelings of nostalgia to curiosity, fascination, amazement, appreciation, etc. With the exception of some bias against it from a few of the American Muscle cars owners, it generally receives nothing but positive attention until one evening a older British fellow happened along. He approached me, and he was polite, but his opinion of the car, DMC and John DeLorean were not very favorable. In so many words he made it clear to me that he saw the result of his swindled and wasted tax dollars sitting parked right there before him. Again, he was a truly polite gentleman, but he made sure that I knew how he and many other British taxpayers felt about how their money was misappropriated and misused to create what I displayed so proudly. I tried to be nice and gently lighthearted about the topic to ease the tension, but I could feel the significant lever of genuine bitterness he was holding back. That encounter was a first for me.
