They say that because those are special bolts that shouldn't be reused, like the cylinder head bolts. same story. I did that, too several times yet and never had a problem. But if there's a problem....I'll be in big trouble I guess. Elvis I just rebuilt one of my calipers last night. I put in new pistons and seals. In reading my shop manual it says "DO NOT SEPERATE THE TWO HALVES OF THE CALIPER" It doesn't say why. I did seperate the two halves of the caliper by removing the 4 bolts with no problem what so ever. I even put it back together with no problems. Does anyone know why the caliper should not be seperated?
