Gus, The fans suck the air back towards the gas tank. That is why there is that whole problem of hot air blowing on the gas tank and causing fuel delivery issues. If your fans blow air forward then the polarity might be reversed to the fans, or you have aftermarket fans of the incorrect type. Also, the fans really only have to run while the car is stopped for a period of time. The wind that blows through the radiator should be enough to cool it so long as you're traveling over ~25 MPH.
