I think Dave was using the word "amatuer" in the sense that he is not making a living at working on Deloreans. In that sense he is not a professional. This is not to diminish or discredit his knowledge and experience about Deloreans. The only "professionals" would be the mechanics at the Delorean vendors like Rob Grady or Steve Wynn and their employees.
