I remember that story. What gave it a semblance of importance was the fact that the person describing the car seemed insistant on the car having sliding windows. That would be a hallmark of a Proto car. From the rest of the description the car sounded to be in very sad shape. My guess is that it is, (was) no more than an ordinary Delorean that is just dead and what is left is slowly disintegrating. There was not enough to follow up on and no way to go looking for it. It also seemed improbable that a Proto could wind up where it was, (I think it was in S Carolina). In any Marque of cars there is always a story like this about the "treasure" in the barn, front yard, garage, basement, etc. The closest I came to the mythical "Mother Lode" was the indoor junkyard of Claude. I had heard rumors about it for a while but could not have imagined what we found. So I guess it is "possible" this story about the Proto car could be true but how do you follow up on it? If you knew even approximatly where to look you could try Google Earth, maybe you could get lucky?
