Very interesting, though I have only been behind the antenna, I don't understand the term "clocking". Is there a clock involved somewhere? I thought the foundation in the operation of the radar was the shift in frequency between the outgoing and returning beam. Am I incorrect? In addition, if your getting miles of forewarning, the radar operator does not have visual contact with you. If that where the issue, than who cares if the radar unit registers a radar beam signal. That still indicates a false alarm. Besides, with a lack of a proper tracking history, visual contact, and consistent high pitched Doppler Tone, where would the ticket come from? The Officer that's miles away? Please understand that I say all this with a heavy heart. Seeing the vehicular carnage I have seen over the years, I have grown to dislike any device which allows anyone to drive a vehicle at speeds which they may not be accustom to travel. Further more, I find it a little disconcerning from someone who indicates they are from both sides of the radar. Richard VIN2800 "Steven L. I have been on both sides of the radar gun and can tell you that both the radar and the detector are only as good as the operator. I have the 8500 X50 on a windshield mount right under the rear view mirror. I have the X Band turned off (Not used in Florida) and rarely get any false alarms. But when it goes off I have miles of warning.
