Paul, There is a big difference between a potential of 12,000 volts on the stock coil and 40,000 volts with the MSD coil and the Pertronix coil. The resistor doesn't have to be changed with either of these but you need to have the 8 mm wires. Along with the Platinum +4 plugs and you will see a big difference in the cranking, idling and running.
