Luke, The roof seals are molded parts that are curved and tapered towards the sealing edge. If flat rubber stock would have worked just as well I certainly would not have invested over $8000- in tooling alone to make new ones. Once you've removed the rivets the first time you'll swear you'll never want to do it again as it's not a fun job. At less than $35- each for a properly designed part isn't your time better spent fixing your car correctly rather than manufacturing your own parts that may not give you the intended results? BTW stick with rivets as screws are more likely to dent the roof with only 1/8" clearance between the two panels. They're completely gone from my car (only the riveted holders remain). From pictures, they appear to just be 2 long rubber rectangles. I'm about to tear off the roof & headliners & figured I'd roll my own seals & convert from rivets to screws while I'm "in the neighborhood". If someone can send me some measurements I promise to write up a 'how to' when I'm done ;) Thanks, Luke & 10270 To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
