Well, it was bound to happen. In the restoration of my car I have had everything apart for cleaning / restoration with the exception of the climate unit. Now after a lot of sweat and contortioned limbs I have it out and apart on my bench. Pulling the engine was easier(IMHO). What a mess! I had detected a small leak in the evaporator which I intended to replace. I ordered up John Hervey's kit. After the difficulty of getting the climate unit out, I ordered a NOS heater core from DMCH. (I support ALL of the vendors:) Now I am looking at a bunch of rusted flaps with no foam attached anywhere. I intend to coat all the metal parts with POR15. I am wondering what others have done to replace the foam? I was thinking about using headliner material which has a foam backing, but am unsure what the downside might be. I would install it with the clot side against the metal and the foam out. Opinions?
