Where I'm from we have an old saying, "never buy a car from a relative, it leads to family feuds". I would say buying a car from someone like your wife's boss could be trouble. As to the car - you're getting good input. Why not let the "boss" get it ready for driving then look to buy? My guess is - he is trying to avoid that cost. Hey, I'm always suspicious. I doubt any upgrades have been done, other than the standard maintenance the local auto shop does. Tune up, fluid changes, etc. I'll try to get it for 10k. I can repair just about anything that needs done on the car, expect ac, & tranny.
