It's a very standard Group 78 side-terminal battery. The common recommendation is Interstate MT78, but honestly if you go in to any battery store and say "98 Chevy Suburban K1500" you will get the right battery. The "upgrade" that many people like is the spun-type dry electrolyte battery such as the Optima. Can't help you with that one, but people who have them swear by them. They do cost more, the main benefit is that they won't leak all over your carpet when something goes wrong.
