How can they say you're crazy if that's what happens? ;) Anyway, how many miles are on that car? Is it well maintained and running well otherwise? Have the heads ever been off? The reason I ask is if the car is old and perhaps not well maintained carbon build up can increase compression and can also result in glowing carbon deposits that will lead to detonation - unless the octane is high enough to prevent it. You may have carbon build-up issues. Make sure your spark plugs are the correct heat range for the car, too. Its a remote possibility, but if the heads have ever been off, there is the possibility that different gaskets, pistons, whatever else some PO may have done may have raised the compresison ratio above what you think it is. Also make sure your base timing is correct. -Joe Kuchan >From: beatlesra1@xxxxxxx >Reply-To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: Re: [DML] What gas octain to use >Date: Tue, 26 Apr 2005 19:47:10 EDT > > > >Unbelievable but true..My car will only run on 93 or 94- octane.
