I'm doing a DIY shock/strut (possible springs) and new bushings, control arms, etc., on the front and rear suspension pieces. Is it necessary (in general automotive repair terms) to replace the springs while replacing the shocks & struts? What would necessitate a spring replacement besides aesthetic reasons?
