The worst wiring modification I ever saw was on a car from the farm belt. The fuel pump quit and the Farmall mechanic had run an 8 gauge red wire from the battery, out the door, past the accumulator to the (+) post of the fuel pump and an equally large white wire from the (-) post of the pump to one of the belly pan bolts. The pump and engine ran when it was all hooked up, but it was less than elegant. All this because the inertia switch was bad. (There's a recall). For wiring troubles, no one has more than the young man on the East Coast who just chased a large and aggressive rat out of his recently purchased Delorean. The rodent had made his home in the jack compartment and eaten through the front end fiberglass in a couple of places an feasted on wires throughout the car. Our man is optimistic, he does auto wiring for a living. The inertia switch: http://www.usadmc.com/dmcstore/ViewPart.asp?PID=2477&Qty=1&ShowCart=true.
