[DML] Dome light question

Question:

Bought a dome light from DMCH.  Very nice, sturdy, and
strong.  Bigger light lens and even a blub - very
cool.  Question is I disconnect the three wires on my
old dome light (cargo net light), reconnect the wires
onto the new dome and.....well..I get light if I turn
the light to the engine compartment, but if I turn it
towards the driver and passenger - nothing.  I plugged
up my old dome real quick - everything works
perfectly.  Put Houston's light back on, works one way
but not the other.  I'm not crossing wire connections,
and to be safe, I did cross the two wires on the left
side of the switch.  Nothing new happened.  Any ideas?
 I had to get to work, so I haven't really diagnosed
it too thoroughly yet.
