Sometimes you can hear the accumulator make a noise a while AFTER you turn the car off as it de-compresses. You may also hear this if you power up the fuel pump, cold-start, without the starter running. It sounds like thumping a beer can. Any "running" noise you hear has to be the fuel pump noise being carried thru the system.
