This sounds like normal behavior Tom. All of my synchronized manual shift cars have harder shifts when the gear oil is cold. The reason is that the gear oil is more viscous when it is cold, which means that it will not flow out from between the synchro rings and the gear as easily, making it harder to engage the gear. The higher gears have larger synchros, which makes it a little easier for the gear oil to be forced out of the sychro. That's why those gears don't seem to be impacted as much. As long as you don't try to rush your gearshifts until the car warms up, you should be fine. -- Mike To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
