Mike. Try the easy things first. Don't attach the upper speedo cable to the instruments, leave the end loose (but connected to the lambda counter box). The cables themselves have square shaped inner bits which should stick out 1-2 inches. Now with the left wheel jacked up slowly rotate it by hand. If the lower cable, angle drive etc are doing their job you will be able to see the end of the speedo cable revolving. If this does appear to rotate it will probably just be an alignment error at the binacle end. I have found that it much easier when replacing the binacle to connect the speedo cable first. // Disconnect the upper speedo cable at both ends (ie from the lambda box as well). With the cable in front of you it is easy to see the inner moving bit (watch for small amounts of oil which may drip). GENTLY tap the lower end of the cable, this will force the inner piece to extend fully at the top. Now with the binacle removed you can fully seat the cable at the top, ensuring the securing clip is in place. This will automatically extend the inner section of the cable to the correct position at the bottom. Replace the binacle into position with the electrical cables reattached. Now you can attach the cable to the lambda box again, note that the square inner piece will slot like a key into the lambda box. Do not try using the screwed collar to force it into position. You may have to gently rotate the cable, in the correct alignment the cable end will seat fully. At this stage rotating the wheel by hand should see the speedo give a reading. \\ John Chapelhow MMG 287W : 'Boeing' #0737 To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
