A point that i havent seen or missed is that a higher octance fuel burns slower than a lower octane fuel. That's the MAIN reason it is used on high performance cars with higher compression or forced induction. You get a slower more even and cooler burn which prevents detonation etc.. It is a common misconception that a higher octane number means it's MORE potent.
