Using fuel with a higher-than-necessary octane rating is well known to be a complete waste of money. Not only are you paying more for the fuel in the first place, but higher octane fuel actually has a lower energy content. (Octane has lower energy content than heptane.) Your car is designed for use with 87 octane fuel. It even says that right in the owner's manual.
