That's my exact sentiments on the DOA and DeLorean World. I think they've horrifically midjudged their POTENTIAL audience. Almost every DeLorean ownerI've ever met has been in their 20s and 30s and are very modest middle class average kind of Joe people. The DeLorean is a fun affordable and very attainable classic/exotic car to them. It stretches most of their budgets to own the car, but they enjoy all of the spoils of ownership just the same. Instead of this main audience, the DOA has chosen a TARGET AUDIENCE... thosewho are really more interested in a lifestyle than a car. They want to flaunt DeLorean ownership as an experience akin to being a member of an elite country club which has an exclusionary membership policy, but once you're in, it's for life! I really think their only goal with all of this is to tryand bolster the value of the car. While I highly disagree with what they think DeLorean ownership is all about, I DO think it's important that we have all views represented of exactly what the DeLorean "experience" is. For some it IS champagne and cavier on the beaches of Santa Barbara, and for others it's all about getting together with your buddies to finally install that part you've been saving up for. That's why I think it's so great that there are a variety of magazines for DeLorean owners that are tailored to different interests. Variety is the spice of life they say, and I for one am glad we have them all.
