The local key shop I went to made for a strange encounter. . . I had my original and a nifty blank from Ken K. that lights up. I asked the wise old master key craftsman to make me a copy. He looked it over slowly for about a minute, and asked what it went to. I don't suppose this matters, since I had the original and was supplying the blank for him to carve. But I told him. Then he asked where the car was. I told him it was in storage (it's winter), and he said I would have to drive it to his shop before he could cut the key for me. I asked why, and he said he wanted to make sure the copy would work. I asked him to cut it anyway, I'm sure it would be fine. And he flat out refused! So off to Wal-Mart I go. . .
