It is a while ago that I had my idlespeed motor off for testing, but my recollection is that it was effectively like a rotary solenoid in that if there was no power it retuned to it's rest position. Not like a servo motor if my memory of servo motors is correct. Mind you my memory is sometimes a bit suspect !
