A hairdryer will heat the stripe up enough to remove it. You may notice some form of contrast between the stainless that has been covered up by the stripe for over 20 years. I am sure in the worse case that that part of the panel could be rebrushed to rid the 'contrast line'. Although I have never had a stripe to remove on my car, this is what I have heard from other owners. >From what I remember this was a dealer option.
