The part in the facia IS a rivnut. It is a special kind of rivet with an internal thread. It is installed like a "pop" rivet except that you use a "special" kind of tool that the rivnut threads onto. You may still have them but the screw broke off inside. You could try drilling out the broken piece and retapping it. If the rivnut is missind or completely shot it can be drilled out and replaced with the "correct" rivnut. Remember it is metric. You could try to locate it on your own or you could contact a Delorean vender. These rivnuts are used all over the car to fasten to the fiberglass like under the spare tire. You can also oreder the correct screws if yours are missing or rusty.
