For anyone selling a car these days you need to be aware that people are now conterfeiting cashier's checks. They will look perfect. The only way to know if it is good is to call the bank and verify the check with the seriel #, amount, date, remitter, and payee. Obviously you cannot do this on a weekend. If you must accept a cashier's check (a bank check) DO NOT LET THE PERSON HAVE THE CAR OR THE TITLE UNTIL YOU CAN GET IN TOUCH WITH THE BANK. Unless they can give you cash do not conduct business on the weekend or a holiday. Once you sign the title and the car is gone all you will be left with is a worthless piece of paper that will cost you a bounce check charge if you deposit it. Whenever doing business like this record the person's driver's license and plate on his car "just in case". 99% of the time this won't be necessary. It seems it isn't just "buyer beware"!!!!!! A variation going around, especially from the internet, is a forgien buyer sending MORE than your asking price and then asking you to send him the balance. Now not only are you out your mechandise but you also sent him REAL money. Be careful out there. David Teitelbaum vin 10757
