Well I drove out last night and looked over the car with a buddy of mine as best we could. Heres what we found. When I called before I went out there, I was told he was asking $10,000, and that all it needed was a new fuel system and doorlifts. When I got there first I talked to the owners wife, he was out of town. Its an 81' with the grooved hood. They are the second owner and have had it for 7 years. It has 55,000 miles(although the odometer says 26,240 miles(The speedo cable Im sure). She said its been sitting for about a year. Her husband was in a bad car accident (not in the delorean), and is now on full disability and is not supposed to be driving a stick. The accident happened a year and a half ago. They got a Brand new A/C Compressor. I found out that the $10,000 is negotiable, she said that if someone came in with $4,000 he wouldnt take it. So Im guessing that he wants something in between those two numbers. Im thinking If its worth it, I could get it down to about $6,000 with alot of work negotiating. When we looked at the car more closely we found... The passneger window is off track, possibly needs upgraded power window regulators for one or both windows. New binnacle, cracked through the middle. The carpet where the snow fell through the window was a little wet, but didnt seem bad. I dont think it would be a problem. Both door pull straps were off of the car, so Im guessing they took the inside door panels off at some time to try to fix the window(s). Headliners arent too bad, but would need to be replaced. Door, louvers, and trunk struts are all completely shot. drivers side door wont open. Owners wife said it was unlocked, after closer inspection and trying to get it open, it seemed that the lock towards the front end was unlocked, and towards the rear was stuck. (new upgraded door locks and/or locking mechanism?) The clutch pedal wont move at all. Up or down. I dont know if this is due to sitting, or if anything was unhooked or what. If anyone has any Idea please let me know. (The stick moved into the gears.) The trunk and engine release latch handles arent mounted and was difficult to get open. The body- The fascias both need repainting. The body has a couple very very small dings, looks like rocks from the highway. The front end hasnt been pulled up on a parking curb. The top of the motor has been taken off, with all the pices in the cargo net inside the car. There is a couple of really small spots on the frame that has surface rust, nothing to worry about. Probobly needs new shocks and tires, my guess. Im uploading pictures to the files section of different parts of the car. It will be under "pauls pics". If you guys could take a look and give me your thoughts on weather or not this car would be worth the hassle and work, or any other miscelaneous thoughts on it, I would be most greatful for the help. If you need more info let me know, I may have forgotten something, or I could find out. Regards, Paul
