Not true. There is a place here on Long Island called Apple hydraulics that will re-sleave the master cylinder. The old one is borded out and a new sleave is installed to fix the pitting. I believe that the cost is about $80 but don't hold me to that. IMHO I would rather buy a new one for my saftey concern....but to each their own.
