Mike, I have had this question posed to me a number of times. I have a +2 (16" f/17" r) setup on my DeLorean. We matched the tires to the wheels such that the stock diameter remained virtually identical. The fronts were perfect and the rears differed by a few hundredths of an inch. The footprint of these wheels is slightly bigger. Also, the sidwall is much shorter and stiffer. I've found the car to be more responsive when driven hard. If you are going to be in Memphis, come see me and check it out for yourself.
