I think that after many years the plastic window track brackets begin to 
physically warp and distort so that keeping them on the track becomes a real 
challenge since they're not really shaped the way they need to be in order to 
function properly. I actually had to bend and reposition the metal bracketry 
supporting the plastic track bracket to get my windows to stay on track and 
work reliably...
